A leap year, the reason for 366 days.
Work was work. Didn’t really feel anything, no inspiration other than to take information off of my camera. Towards the end of the day, Janine text me about meeting up for some food with the lads, so we all went out, ended up at Nandos again (two in two days), and just had some drinks and a chat at Red Square afterwards. I like these mellow hang outs....

Gamers, sounds, music: Headphones
As an avid gamer, I remember growing up and loving the soundtracks to video games. From the cartridge’s poor quality midis that sometimes came with a CD version of the soundtrack (such as Killer Instinct on Super Nintendo), to the Final Fantasy series (especially seven, eight and ten).
But with the rise of online gaming, I have found myself more concerned with hearing the dialogue taking...

Ran into London to see Vanesha before she flies to California and do a quick camera exchange so I can use the flip screen for filming on the weekend and on Tuesday. We stopped off, hit Nandos for lunch and the rest of the evening was just a standard end-of-work evening.

Made a conscious decision to not go out as I already had enough footage to edit. Possibly have another paid job working on a Little Bear/Mikill Pane music video next week. Going to meet Vanesha for lunch tomorrow and edited up all the photos I’d done today.
Slowly but surely.

Arsenal faced Tottenham. Arsenal who were low, Tottenham who were high. And we beat them. Quite convincingly, and from 2-0 down. We triumphed 5-2. And all who bore witness, saw what we are capable of.
We had the whole group down - Ryan, Naz, Nick x3, Louis, Dave, Cara, Tracey & Chris, Ella and whoever else joined us. We drank, we sang, we laughed and afterwards, Nick and Stacey joined Louis...

Try new things, be confident in your passions
and hope the world will be accepting and accommodating. Sometimes they will not, but all the better when they do.
Also if you shout anything clearly and with a good enough pause between statements, it sounds like poetry to an untrained ear.
“I have been riding this train, for three hours and two minutes. This train, that we are sat on now. And I have observed the coming, and going, coming...

Today was split into two things. I was travelling around London with some poets and doing Pop Up Poetry, where we just start reciting poetry in various parts of the city seemingly at random, be it on public transport, in public places or otherwise. We had some great reactions in Victoria and on the Victoria Line, some not so great ones on the Overground service, and some more people joined in and...

Learning From Literature
Luke grinned. “Would you please stop saying things like that?”
“Sorry, I just get tired of hearing the same old phrases, the same old way, year after year. I think that’s why Master Yoda mangled his Basic for the archival recordings. After nine hundred years, he was sick of hearing the same old things the same old way. Use the same cliché phrases too long and people stop...

Musa Okwonga, a brilliant writer, poet and friend of mine asked me for some information about New York. He’s been there before but he was researching some and as someone who travels there fairly frequently, at least compared to many who aren’t businessmen, I was able to impart some knowledge. I went and met up with him at The World’s End, caught up with Kal a little, went through...

Edited together some footage from last month that I found on my external hard drive, of Ursa Minor aka Little Bear performing opening for Mikill Pane a song called Gas Lighting. Organised the work I was going to be doing that weekend and edited some photographs of Katie Malco from two nights ago.

The day finally came. We released Ryan Keen’s Focus.
The video link is here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g_DL18ExQM8
I did the live action filming, Andy Shackleford was Director, Animator and Editor, and we had cameos from Lee and Andy in the video alongside Terry as the angry boss, and Ryan as… well Ryan. It’s a pretty spectacular video and by Friday evening had 10,000...

Musical interlude:
Listen to Kevin Devine. He has some brilliant music. Brothers Blood is one of my favourite albums. He is a great songwriter, interacting human being and all the other bits in between, and he’s funny. Subtly funny, but funny.
Check out Murphy’s Song, Brothers Blood, Another Bag of Bones and I Could Be With Anyone. Great songs.

I went and saw Kevin Devine tonight with Scott. He didn’t think he’d like it but he was willing to come along and hang out, and we had a wicked time. We met him, had photos with him and laughed about silly things like life and touring, bands and New York. Kevin Devine’s performance blew me away once more. He’s so raw and passionate, so direct and intelligent and just such...

Make use of the time you have
A lot of the time, I like to sit back and read a book. Or play a game. OR just refresh a website.
I’m trying to channel that time elsewhere right now. To loading a video that I’ll be editing or mixing down. To multitask. To achieve a bit more. Sometimes you have to do something with bad quality footage. Just work with it and see what you can get.
Also listen to your heart when making...

I had a lot of spare time today. Rick hadn’t worked on Friday, so I only had the work that was coming in. As such, I used the time to get myself back into editing videos, even if all I am learning is something like transitions or trying to remotely storyboard some ideas.
My nephew was over, so I had footage of him. I had footage from when it snowed a while back, too, and I had some footage...

Recognise your body has limits
If you’re exhausted, rest. If you’re hungry, eat. If you’re chasing something and it jumps out a third story building window, go to the bottom floor first, before chasing further…
You may feel like you’re missing something at the time, but being in control of your body is probably more important than passing out in the middle of nowhere because you didn’t see...

Decided to stay in. In bed. In my room. In. I needed a day to myself. Sometimes you just have to take that. I don’t really remember much about it. I think I deleted some things, cleared some things away, cleared my room a little. I just had to survive.

Don't expect a win every time.
IF you won every time it’d be boring. There’d be no challenge. You’d expect it. You might not appreciate it as much. Take those bad days with the good, and remember the lows help you feel the highs. Also don’t do drugs.

Saturday. I’m pretty sure Vanesha came over, played with Teal’c and we did a camera exchange. She’s off to LA for a little while. Very little while. Conventions and all that fun. I was a bit sleep deprived. I watched Arsenal play Sunderland, and lose 2-1. I played Xbox all weekend. I wanted to just have a bit of fun and be a child for a while.

Try to not let budget dictate outcomes
That doesn’t mean steal to get by. It means make do with what you’ve got. Walk instead of buses. Tap into the resources you already have rather than the latest trends you could be picking up. And stop buying Ultimate Team packs.

Friday came and went. I don’t think I went out. I wasn’t really in the mood but I was feeling a bit creative. It’s hard to piece together from such a distance. I started filming things that were appealing to me. I’d not been out much owing to being a bit broke, and I didn’t want to stifle creativity at all. The filming ended up being pretty bland but at least it was...

Don't wish your life away
As soon as Thursday was passed, I realised how soon this month would go. How long it was since the first Ed tour. How many friendships have come and gone in the last six months. It’s not something to rush away, and if your 9-5 isn’t making you happy, you need to try and find something that does, or at least make the most of what you have.

Thursday. Stupid Thursday. I woke up realising how quickly the week had gone by on Thursday. Thursday was the longest day of the week. Thursday didn’t start. It felt like it was trying to be seven days long just to show me how long it usually takes to reach Thursday. Damn you, Thursday.

Supporting things
Sometimes you support things and they fail. They might fail lots before they’re successful. Don’t give up. They need your support more than you know.

Nick and Scott came over. We watched Arsenal get torn apart by Milan. It wasn’t the greatest of moments but it could’ve been worse, I’m sure. I mean, it could’ve been Saturday’s game, right?

Valentines Day. I told someone something. Not that I liked them. I just talked a lot. The majority of this week had a lot of talking.
Nick and Stacey got engaged. I was proper choked up. Incredibly happy for them after 10 years of dating, they’re planning a marriage. She proposed to him, too, which was even more ideal. Just very happy for them.

Do You Use It?
If you’ve got things that you haven’t used in a while, work out why you’re holding on to it. Nostalgia? Expected increase in value? No reason? Maybe recycle it. Or donate it. Or just be rid of it. That reminds me, does anyone want a ton of Pokémon plush, a Linkin Park rare skateboard, or other things along that line of thinking? All in good condition.

Missed a W.E. Love Sundays to make some lists of things I needed to do. Prepared some things from a video game that I was going to sever ties with.
I gave away my PS2 and Gamecube because I hadn’t used them in forever and my nephew was enjoying some of the games that I had on them. He’s been loving it since. Slowly I’m getting things out of mine into other homes, with people who...

FOMO
FOMO is the Fear Of Missing Out.
There is no real reason to have FOMO, other than perhaps low esteem. I tend to get low esteem when I’m particularly tired, and that usually pushes me to try and be at places I don’t have the energy to be at. Then people get to meet a version of me that I don’t think is the real me.
Or I turn up to an event and I drink too much and they meet an...

With a massive amount of fatigue, I awoke to see that I had family over. Josh, Becky and Beth were all in the house and partying it up. People came and joined the house throughout the day - my sisters, brother in laws and parents. I had an immense hangover, but moreso, I was exhausted. I’d gotten home around 5am, been woken around 9am and knew I would have family with me til at least 8pm.

On Thursday night, Ryan got a last minute text from a friend telling him that Zane Lowe was about to play his first single from the new EP of the same name - FOCUS. Ryan didn’t know this was going to happen. Ed Sheeran and publicists had put in a good word for him, and lo-and-behold, it happened.
On Wednesday, Lee (Ryan’s drummer), turned 25.
So on Friday we celebrated both with a...

Lucy had invited me to see a poppy folk band called Robbie Boyd Band at The Bedford in Balham. I can rarely turn down the opportunity to head out to The Bedford as for one, it is five minutes from my house via Tube, and for two it is usually free. In this case, I was on a guest list for it and the room was absolutely packed. I got to the venue far too early, and sent a text out to Charlie who...

Temperatures dropped and there was talk of snow coming. Had an Acoustic Domestic to go to (music night Antonio runs), but I just didn’t have the energy. I ended up wasting it away watching episodes of How I Met Your Mother, and that show always leaves me reminded sorely of how single I am. Hilarious in places, emotional in others.

I uploaded a fair few to my Youtubey, and plan to do a bunch more on Friday.
